Although the wedding exists since ancient time, it is less 200 years for bride to wear wedding gown. The floor length dress is just come from Catholics who wear it to attend the ceremony. As some European countries carry out unification of the state and the church, the bride and the bridegroom must accept praying and blessing in church to be legal couple. And the bride is requested to wear white dress which symbolizes sincerity and purity. Before the 19th century, the bride wasn’t requested to wear unified color dress. But until about 1820, Britain's queen Victoria wore a white wedding dress, who is a good leader for bride to follow.
In fact, it is the woman remarried who wear wedding dress in pink or light blue. But with social advancement, our views are changing. It isn’t limited to wear white wedding dress. Most brides choose different colors, such as red, blue, rose red and so on, different styles like A-line, ball gown, empire, mermaid and son. Very gorgeous and chic.
In western society, the dress will be saved carefully either as a memorial or leaving to their daughter. It help us bridge with our ancestors well. In my view, it is a good way of inheritance. We can also share their sweet moment. Isn’t it a wonderful thing!
